This article will explain the tutorial about how to root Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with Android XWLP3 ICS 4.0.3 Firmware. Basically, Samsung Galaxy S2 received an official Ice Cream Sandwich update on several days ago.

Before you begin, you should check that your device has firmware 4.0.3 XWLP3 (Settings -> About phone -> Firmware version. To follow this tutorial you must have firmware version Android 4.0.3 XWLP3).
What you should know before rooting your phone:
1. Back up all your data before starting the process. Do not do the backup with KIES as it creates the backup in the format (.SBU) which is usually restoration problems being a custom firmware ROM.
SMS – Use SMS Backup & Restore
Contacts – Sync to Gmail application
Pictures, songs, videos and files – Copy to SD card
To note the APN and MMS settings from Applications -> Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile networks -> APN
2. Make sure all security suites and firewalls, antivirus and application KIES are closed completely until firmware update finishes.
3. The phone must have a minimum of 80% battery to ensure that the update will not be interrupted.
4. Never interrupt the firmware update manually, by the way, if interrupted by power failure there is no need to worry because all you have to do is follow the instructions only from the beginning.
5. It is very important to make sure you have ADMIN privileges before proceeding to update the phone. You must also enable the USB port which means that you have read/write the firmware can be applied successfully. To do this go to Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging . Note that the phone must be disconnected from the computer when you perform this step.
Steps to root Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with Android XWLP3 4.0.3 ICS:
1) Download the XWLP3 Root package to your computer and extract the files.
2) Then you open the executable file on your PC Odin and off the phone to enter Download mode. To enter download mode you must press the Volume Down + Center button, then hold both, simultaneously press Power. Then you should see a green robot indicates that you entered into download mode.
3) Once your Galaxy S2 is in download mode, you connect the device to computer via the USB cable original, while Odin’s running on your computer. There you will see that Section ID: COM yellow lights.
If ID: COM does not get yellow, you must do the steps below:
- Need to install USB drivers for your phone on the PC
- You must go to Settings -> Wireless & Network -> USB Settings and make sure that the “Samsung KIES” is checked before connecting your phone to your computer.
4) Once ID: COM is in yellow, select the file you PDA CF-Root-SGS2_XW_O2U_LP3-v5.4-CWM5 and click “Start” to start the firmware update process. Once the device has successfully rooted then it will restart automatically.
5) When you see the screen, you should disconnect the USB cable to turn off the device into recovery mode. To do this you must press the Volume Up + home button and while holding both simultaneously press the power button.
6) In recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe Cache partition and then reboot the phone by selecting Reboot system now with the help of the volume keys to scroll.
Congratulations! now you have root access on your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with Android 4.0.3 ICS (XWLP3).
