Lumia 1520 will be the Nokia's Bandit Phablet Features 6-inch

Finally an interesting news has came out earlier. The most waiting smartphone or actually better to be called the Phone and Tablet or Phablet which made by Nokia is merely come to be true. The Phablet which will be based on the Windows Phone OS made by Nokia later on will be called by the code Lumia 1520.

Prolific source of insider info @evleaks posted that the Nokia Bandit will bear the retail name Nokia Lumia 1520. The Bandit is one of several leaked codenames and is most likely the 6" 1080p Windows Phone phablet we saw on a few occasions before.

— @evleaks (@evleaks)

We've stumbled upon its front panel before, but the interesting bit is the software update called GDR3, which will enable 1080p resolution support in Windows Phone 8 along with support for quad-core processors.

Which is where the Nokia RM-940 comes in – it received a Bluetooth certification recently and attached to that certification was a separate certification for Snapdragon 800, Snapdragon 400 and Snapdragon 200 chipsets. That combined with an earlier rumor points to Snapdragon 800 power in the Nokia Lumia 1520.

Nokia has scheduled a "worldwide premiere" for tomorrow, August 28. Will the Lumia 1520 be there? What about that Windows RT tablet (also with Snapdragon 800)? The event is in Moscow, which isn't one of the traditional cities for major announcements so don't get your hopes up, but we'll be keeping an eye on things anyway.

Nokia Lumia 928 Goes Official to Come with Xenon Flash

Today is the big day for Nokia as they were releasing their flagship Nokia Lumia 928. The device is officially announced to come with some  new features to compete with the other fladship devices out there.

The Nokia Lumia 928 packs an 8.7MP image sensor that is optically stabilized and sits behind a 26mm wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens with F/2.0 aperture. Unlike the 920, the new model packs Xenon flash alongside the standard LED flash. It's quite impressive, considering that the Lumia 928 is just 0.5mm thicker than the Lumia 920.

The Nokia Lumia 928 can capture 1080p video at 30fps and record sounds as loud as 140dB thanks to its HAAC wide dynamic range microphones.

The screen is different too – it's still 4.5" in diagonal with 768 x 1,280 pixels resolution, but it's an AMOLED display with ClearBlack and a High Brightness mode for up to 500 nits of brightness. It's still super sensitive and works with fingernails and gloves.

Other than that, the Lumia 928 is not too different from AT&T's Lumia 920 – it runs Windows Phone 8 on a 1.5GHz dual-core Krait processor with 1GB of RAM, packs 32GB of built-in memory and a 2,000mAh battery.

On the connectivity side there's Verizon's fast 4G LTE along with dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. The phone supports wireless charging too.

The phone will, of course, come with exclusive Nokia goodies like HERE Drive+ worldwide SatNav, Nokia Music, Transit, City Lens and more.

The Nokia Lumia 928 will be available May 16 from Verizon for $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate on a 2-year contract. For a limited time you'll also get a $25 voucher for the Windows Marketplace. There will be two color versions at launch – Black and White.

Nice Weather Flow updates for Windows 8 and Windows Phone apps

Day by day Windows Phone is perfect by the time going. It is more coming in nice features we need. We love it when apps get updated, especially when it’s one of our favorite apps. One of which is the Weather Flow. It has been on our favorite apps list for quite a while because it is well designed, and the developers keep it updated. Today they have sent out updates for both their Windows and Windows Phone apps.

The phone update will be important mainly to Windows Phone 7.8 users. They now get the double-wide tile, complete with rich or metro themes. The tiles can also now show minimal data or full weather forecasts for the week. Now 7.8 users will have most of the features that WP8 users have.

The Windows update gets some love for the live tiles too. They now have the same rich and metro theme options of the phone app. It also adopts the same detail options as the phone app. Lastly, both apps now support 10 languages. If you use either of these apps you will definitely want this update, and if you’re looking for good weather apps give Weather Flow a try.

Download Instagram for Windows Phone (3rd Party) Called Instagraph

As we can see for now, WP is still lack of apps available on market. But still this OS need more development. One for sure is there is no Instagram for WP as for the moment. But there has been a lot of talk about Instagram for Windows Phone around these parts lately. There have been a lot of official apps arriving on the platform, like Pandora, and it has been making people more anxious for Instagram. Last night WPCentral posted a little teaser saying “Anything is possible” with a photo clearly taken on a Windows Phone and uploaded to an Instagram account. Today we have more information on that app, and a video walkthrough (must be watched on YouTube).

The app is called Instagraph, and it appears to be an officially certified app that can upload photos to Instagram. It doesn’t use the standard Instagram filters. Instead it uses the open source Aviary photo filters. Aviary provides quite a few more options than Instagram users have. After adding filters and applying effects you can then upload the image to Instagram. It might not be the official app that many people want, but this is probably the closest we are going to get. We will let you know as soon as it arrives!

UPDATE: We have learned more about Instagraph. It is not an officially certified app by Instagram. Apparently the developers have found a way to upload images to Instagram without an official API. The interesting part is it doesn’t appear that they have reverse engineered the API, like 3rd-party Pandora apps. This means Instagram can’t suddenly change something and kill the app. We will keep following this interesting app.

Intel Seems Working on Future Mobile Devices Using 48-Core Processors

Nokia only recently claimed single -ore processors were all that was needed to power today’s smartphones, though thanks to market pressure, compromised in bringing a dual-core chip to the Lumia 920. Look at the entire smartphone and tablet market, and you’ll notice each vendor is following a similar motif in adding more cores as a form of natural progression. However, if you thought the Galaxy S III was a bit of a powerhouse with its quad-core Exynos processor, wait until you get a load of what Intel is cooking up.

The company, which is by far the foremost manufacturer of processors in the world of computing, is looking to build an incredible 48-core processor for smartphones and tablets. Considering the speed of the iPhone 5, for example, which runs on a dual-core A6 chip, a 48 core chip should be one notch slower than telepathy, right?

Well in actual fact, while the core count is certainly a useful component in determining the overall speed of a device, it’s certainly not the end-all, be-all. In a similar manner to which the number of megapixels is used to monopolize smartphone cameras, many consumers are led to believe that a device with more cores than another is, by and large, a more efficient one.

Cores serve to chop up big tasks into digestible chunks, so the more cores you have, the more chunks can be dealt with without lagging up the device. Thus, if you have 48 cores, than number of complicated tasks could occur at the same time. Before you all get excited, though, the experts have already waded in and insisted the technology is a decade off reaching our prized mobile assets.

Undeterred by the claims of a ten-year wait, however, Intel’s chief technology officer believes 48-core processors could make an appearance long before then, and seems pretty enthusiastic about his company’s progress. Speaking with Computerworld, he noted:

I think the desire to move to more natural interfaces to make the interaction much more human-like is really going to drive the computational requirements. Having large numbers of cores to generate very high performance levels is the most energy efficient way to deliver those performance levels.

Suddenly, my dual-core smartphone feels decidedly slow.

What Would Nokia Do if Windows Phone 8 Fails on the Market, Join to Android ?

A member of the Nokia board of directors, Rista Siilasmaa, said i an interview on Finnish TV that Nokia has back up plan if Windows Phone 8 fails on the market. After Nokia clearly stated that they would never use Android on their smartphone, but this might change when WP8 fails to compete with Android phones.

Risto Siilasmaa claimed that the company is happy with how Windows Phone’s latest update is shaping up, with Windows Phone 8 set to bring new features to the platform while removing some of the existing irritating issues. Both Nokia and Microsoft are hoping for a turnaround in fortunes with Windows Phone 8, but if things don’t turn out how everyone hopes, it seems Nokia may have a backup plan up its sleeve.

Many people are going to be quite happy if in fact Nokia joins the Android camp and starts manufacturing some truly high-end devices. However, such a turn of events seems unlikely as the contract between Nokia and Microsoft is said to contain clauses, which force the Finns to focus all their effort on WP.

If Windows Phone 8 does fail to meet expectations, it is conceivable that Nokia could move into the already crowded Android phone market. With the likes of HTC, Samsung and LG already playing in a space that only has a finite amount of money flying around, Android is far from a nailed-on success for anyone, even Nokia.

That said, we’d be all over a Jelly Bean-powered Lumia 900, and we suspect plenty of other technology fans would at least want to give it a look, too. Android’s power, apps and community with Nokia’s undoubted ability to make a gorgeous handset? Yes, please!

However, according to GSMarena.com, there was a contact with the Nokia to make clear statement that there was a miss interpretation of the interview when asked about the plan to change to Android, and there the Nokia give a statement quote: "[...] like any responsible board, we must be prepared for alternatives, but that is not our focus today [...]".

It seems there is another operating system that would be the back up plan of the Nokia, wether it is Android OS or Symbian or Meego. But we are still waiting what it could be the back up plan.

Will the Current Windows Phones be Upgraded to WP8 ?

For those who want to taste the windows phone should consider twice before buying the current windows phone. Microsoft lately has been announced a news relating to the current update of windows phone operating system on the mobile phones, such as Nokia or Samsung.

There's a reason for that - the two OSes may look similar on the outside, but they are vastly different on the inside. The new core that enables so many cool features (multiple CPU cores, better graphics) is shared with Windows 8 RT (based on Windows NT) and not Windows Phone 7 (based on Windows CE, same as Windows Mobile).

Why wouldn’t Microsoft let its most loyal mobile users in on its latest and greatest software? The reason is actually very simple: This isn’t the same Windows Phone operating system as the one they’ve been using. Although Windows Phone 8 resembles its predecessors in both looks and functionality, everything has changed under the hood.

“The oversimplified way of putting it is that, before, you had a phone that ran programs; now you have a computer that can make phone calls,” says Greg Sullivan, Microsoft’s senior marketing manager for Windows Phone (shown above). “There is a fundamental difference architecturally.”

Windows Phone has been re-coded from the ground up for Version 8. The original Windows Phone (Version 7) and all subsequent upgrades before 8 are actually based on Windows CE, Microsoft’s earlier mobile operating system. Windows CE was also the basis for Windows Mobile, which came before Windows Phone 7.

Windows Phone 8, however, is based on the same core software as Windows 8 itself (the Windows NT kernel). While that has many benefits — for users, hardware makers, developers and Microsoft — it means all those phones that were designed to run Windows Phone 7 can’t run the new OS.

All isn’t lost on current Windows Phone users, however. The most visible upgrade in Windows Phone 8 — the super-customizable home screen — will come to older Windows Phones through an upgrade to Windows Phone 7.8, and Microsoft says it’ll continue to support the previous Windows Phone OS.

“The sense that we just bought something and we don’t want to be left behind is what we’re delivering on,” says Sullivan. “Nokia is doing a bunch of works to keep this fresh. They’re going to continue to invest in the Lumia line and add new capability and new functionality.”

Microsoft’s senior marketing manager for Windows Phone, Greg Sullivan, says that it's not impossible to port WP8 on older devices, but the cost of doing that would be very high and the benefit very little - WP8 enables multi-core support, higher resolution screens, NFC, microSD card support and so on, none of which will make a difference on the legacy hardware.

What they are getting (as part of the Windows Phone 7.8 update) is the new start screen - it's the most noticeable change in the OS and will actually benefit the current Windows Phone smartphones.

Users who move to the new version of the OS will get to keep using their Windows Phone 7 apps as those will work on WP8. There's no backwards compatibility for the newly developed WP8 apps though and there's nothing that can be done about it - for example, the Adreno 205 just won't cut it for games intended for a Snapdragon S4 (which packs an Adreno 225 or 305).

So, it is up to you now to buy the current windows phone or wait a little longer to get the WP8.

The time to taste the Nokia Pure View 808 will finally arrives soon, but the first country to taste this amazing camera phone is Mexico.

Soon enough the first country to step over by Nokia Pure View is Mexico. This Nokia plan has been confirmed by some media over the internet one of which is the news from the Spanish Version of Nokia Conversations.

Nokia Carla OS Update to Bring New Browser and Qwerty Keyboard

There is a good news for those people who used the Nokia Smartphones. The upcoming update to the mobile Nokia OS, Carla, recently shows up in screenshot form. The screenshots don't show much, however, you can get a taste of what the update is going to bring.

Nokia Carla OS
The Nokia Carla OS update is reportedly destined for the Nokia 700, 701, 603 and the Nokia 808 Pureview. Unfortunately, the update won't be coming for the 1st generation Symbian^3 phones such as the Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6-01.

First, there's the new on-screen qwerty keybord, which seems to have been inspired by its Windows Phone cousin. The Nokia Browser has also been updated to a new version, which features some new UI improvements.

But the most noticeable change comes from the lock screen. Gone is the classic Unlock Button, and replacing it is a Swipe to unlock method. The user interface of the Music player also sees some improvements in the form of a refreshed UI, as does the Options screen, which borrows the looks of the Meego Harmattan UI.

Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh as the Official Windows Phone Tango

A few days ago, the Windows Phone Tango update is officially announced to be named Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh. This has been revealed by Stefania Duico, the lead of Windows Phone Italy. As we can probably called the latest Windows Phone by the name only Windows Phone 7.5.

Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh as the Official Windows Phone Tango
This interesting news of the update for the Tango to bring several correction of bugs on the Windows Phone Tango. In essence, Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh is the internal name (used in Microsoft ) of the update to be released in the coming months and will not be used to call the operating system on a commercial scale.

As for the update of Windows Phone will become available for every WP-based smartphone out there later this year. The next major release is Apollo a.k.a. Windows Phone 8, in which it will probably launch in Q3 this year. let's just wait for the next information.

MeeGo 1.2 update is Available for Nokia N9

Now, an Update of Meego 1.2 is available to download for Nokia N9. According to the information spread out on the forum and sites, this update required about 284 MB and needs you 40 minutes of time for the download/upgrade, but the "well worth it" OS upgrade for Nokia's non-Windows flagship smartphone is available.

Like I said, according to Nokia the install will take about 40 minutes (it is a 248 MB upgrade) - the update include:
  • The ability to make video calls. The N9 had been unable to utilize the front-facing camera for video calls up to this point.
  • App Launcher
  • Camera Updates
  • The ability to copy/paste (!)
  • Gallery viewing updates
Developers received the upgrade for testing about 30 days ago, so we consider this launch right on schedule.

Nokia Lumia 610 Specification and Pictures

Here is an addition of the specification and picture of Nokia Lumia 610. According to the information spread on the many sources, this series becomes one of the cheapest windows smartphone made by Nokia.

Nokia 610 is presented with 3.2" screen, 3MP camera, and Windows Phone Tango on board and equipped with 256MB of RAM. The Nokia Lumia 610 will reportedly be priced at €175, when it hits the shelves. India will be one of the first markets to receive the device.

Let's just wait from this Lumia 610 to come out and can it beat Samsung on the market or not. Here are some picture of Nokia Lumia 610.

Nokia Plans to Release Cheaper Windows Smartphone

Under some reason of the market competition, Nokia plans to unveil their cheaper Windows Smartphone to release for public after MWC 2012 in Barcelona, Spain.

The midrange Smartphone to be released is alongside with the new Lumia 610 and the worldwide version of the Lumia 900. Cheaper phones are the key for Nokia and Microsoft in their battle to win a larger share of the market, analysts say.

Nokia is set to unveil the phones at a news conference next Monday, on February 27.

Nokia last year dumped its own smartphone software platforms in favor of Microsoft's Windows Phone, which has so far had a limited impact due to the high prices of phones using it.

Microsoft's share of the smartphone market fell to a mere 2 percent last quarter, compared with 3 percent a year ago and 13 percent four years earlier, according to Strategy Analytics.

Nokia Carla, Yes Update is Coming in Quarter 4 of 2012.

There has been spreading news saying that the upcoming Nokia Carla will be available in the quarter 4 of the year 2012. But apparently this is the trusted rumor so it of course will make us happy to be able to taste Nokia Carla.

According to the information, the second-gen Belle smartphone, including Nokia 603, 700 and 701 will start shipping with the new version of their OS first. Later on, the rest of the Belle-running smartphones in the Nokia portfolio will get Carla as an update. Scheduled for Q4, the update should cover N8,C7,E7,X7,E6,C6-01.

Despite what previous rumors were saying, Carla will be distributed to all smartphones currently on Belle. However, those that lack NFC capabilities and 1GHz processors will get a trimmed down version of the update to avoid performance hiccups.
Finally, we learned that the Nokia N8 successor, which should be unveiled on Monday at the Nokia MWC press conference won't be the last device to run on Carla. There are at least two more Carla smartphones in works - they should both come out this year.

It would be best if you take those rumors with a pinch of salt, but the source has a decent record for these things and there are few things that sound unreasonable, so it's probably quite close to the truth.
