Nokia Lumia 925 Officially Announced, Details Here !

Recently, we learned Nokia would be going all-out aluminum with the casing of its latest flagship, and judging by the press images, this is easily the most aesthetically pleasing device Nokia has managed to churn out thus far. Offering the same kinds of materials that give the iPhone 5 and HTC One their beauty was never going to be a bad move, and it has to also be noted that the Lumia 925 is also a great deal slimmer than the rather chunky Lumia 920.

Thanks in part to the limitations of Windows Phone, Nokia is quite some distance behind the major Android and iOS vendors in terms of market share and reach, and in an attempt to bridge some of the gaping gap between its fleet of smartphones and those of the Big Two, the Finnish company has today announced the Lumia 925 - which was teased yesterday in a rather mesmerizing video - at its planned London event. All of the details, as ever, are coming up right after the break!

Following the launch of the Lumia 820 and 920 late last year, Nokia went on to lose a five percent market share in the first quarter of this year according to numbers firm Gartner, but if this device is anything to go by, Nokia is certainly not ready to give up hope just yet.

First and foremost it, of course, runs on Windows Phone 8, and with the “brightest” display Nokia has produced spanning a 4.5-inch diameter, with a screen resolution of 1280 x 768, there’s plenty of real estate there for you to sink your fingertips into. That’s 334 ppi! And oh, it’s AMOLED, in case you’re wondering.

The aluminum chassis is easily the marquee feature here though, and with the device measuring in with an 8.5mm depth and weighing a svelte 139g, it should feel really nice to hold.

Of the camera, it will be another 8.7-megapixel affair, and as you’d expect, it’s of the PureView variety, and although one might presume Nokia to have simply recycled the 920′s (very, very good) camera, the company claims that this new device offers the smartphone world’s most advanced lens technology. With features like Smartcam, which takes up to 10 images in quick succession, it will automatically source the best shot. The lens comes from Carl Zeiss, as you’d expect and is accompanied with a dual LED flash, hence you can rest assured that your images will look bright and stunning even at night. With the capability to shoot 1080p videos at 30 frames per second, it’s safe to bet on the fact that the Lumia 925 is more of a camera phone than a smartphone, if you can’t manage to look past the camera features, that is.

As was the case with the Lumia 920, there’s also wireless charging thrown into the bag, and with a tidy Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, it easily slots in among the high-end smartphones in the market. And yes, it has wireless charging as well.

The Lumia 925 will hit the shelves in UK during the first week of June, and will slowly make its way to other markets including Germany, Italy, Spain, China and of course, the US.

Priced at just 469 Euros, it doesn’t really come cheap, but if you look at it’s photography and video prowess, then it might just be a bang on the buck!

Let's check the video here:

What might Nokia phones with Windows Phone OS in future ?

Windows phone is indeed working hard to compete with the famous OS Android on the market today. Even though many new features presented on it, the consumers are still looking for the one that can really be relied for their daily needs. Moreover, there are many options of operating system put on the mobile phones except both mentioned above, such as Symbian OS, Bada OS, and other.

Apparently, Windows Phone OS is not only coming with Nokia, which is famous in Lumia series, but also coming with Samsung. The Lumia series that are expected as the successor of Nokia Phone seem working hard too as the fact sentenced that Samsung still get their best presenting the Galaxy series, i.e. Samsung Galaxy S3.

However, this is not over yet as other competitor is yet releasing its best, including Apple that is planning to release iPhone 5 on August. This seems hard for Nokia to get people to be always using thir phone regarding the Lumia 900 is still not catching up.

So, are you still the fan of Nokia ?

The next-generation iPhone 5 with 3.9-inch display

The next generation of iPhone has nearly come to us. The most awaited iPhone after the success the previous iPhone 4GS and now we want more advance of iPhone.

Apple is testing multiple next-generation iPhones, and we have independently heard that at least one of these devices sports a brand new display.

Apple’s iPhone display went mostly unchanged from the first iteration of the iPhone to the third, but for the iPhone 4, Apple took the iPhone display to new heights with the incredible 640 x 960 Retina Display. The display has always been 3.5 inches measured diagonally and a 3:2 aspect ratio. As we hinted yesterday, all of that is about to change…

Right now we know of a few next-generation iPhone candidates in testing. These prototype phones are floating around Apple HQ in thick, locked shells in order to disguise the exterior design to “undisclosed” employees. We know of two next-generation iPhones in testing with a larger display: the iPhone 5,1 and iPhone 5,2. These phones are in the PreEVT stage of development and are codenamed N41AP (5,1) and N42AP (5,2). Because Apple reserves certain models for internal-only usage (such as the N96 phone we previously reported on), we’re not sure which of the two devices will make its way into the world later this year.

Both of these phones sport a new, larger display that is 3.95 inches diagonally. Apple will not just increase the size of the display and leave the current resolution, but will actually be adding pixels to the display. The new iPhone display resolution will be 640 x 1136. That’s an extra 176 pixels longer of a display. The screen will be the same 1.94 inches wide, but will grow to 3.45 inches tall. This new resolution is very close to a 16:9 screen ratio, so this means that 16:9 videos can play full screen at their native aspect ratio.

We’ve also heard that Apple will be taking full advantage of their new pixels. Apple is currently testing builds of iOS 6 that are custom-built to the new iPhone’s display. These builds include a tweaked home screen with a fifth row of icons (besides the stationary app dock) and extended application user interfaces that offer views of more content. Apple is able to pull this off with the same sharpness as the current iPhone Retina Display because of the additional pixels.

In terms of hardware other than the new display, we’ve heard that both of these prototypes definitely include a home button and the previously-rumored smaller dock connector. Apple will be bringing these dock connectors to all of their iOS devices over time, and it is not exactly a “pill-shape” as rumored. It’s basically a much narrower version of the current squared off (on the corners) dock connector. It is between the size of a Micro-USB and Mini-USB connector.

MeeGo 1.2 update is Available for Nokia N9

Now, an Update of Meego 1.2 is available to download for Nokia N9. According to the information spread out on the forum and sites, this update required about 284 MB and needs you 40 minutes of time for the download/upgrade, but the "well worth it" OS upgrade for Nokia's non-Windows flagship smartphone is available.

Like I said, according to Nokia the install will take about 40 minutes (it is a 248 MB upgrade) - the update include:
  • The ability to make video calls. The N9 had been unable to utilize the front-facing camera for video calls up to this point.
  • App Launcher
  • Camera Updates
  • The ability to copy/paste (!)
  • Gallery viewing updates
Developers received the upgrade for testing about 30 days ago, so we consider this launch right on schedule.
